Tamarind Kitchen is the new eatery from the Tamarind Collection. It is on Wardour Street in London and offers a more relaxed dining experience than the other restaurants in the group.
Listen to my review here!
I liked the food a lot, especially the Fish Curry, the Chicken Tikka Masala and all the lamb dishes. It is quite expensive, and while a great deal at half price, I would struggle to justify a trip at full price.
Pictures below – check out the amazing table and the desserts!
Glowing Table
Place Settings – and the glowing table!
The Starters and Kababs – go for the Kababs as a starter.
The Main Courses and Sides
Dessert Menu – look no further than the Chocolate Bomb!
Sunday was brunch day and a bunch of us went to Roka Aldwych for a slap up feed. Normal price is £59 + service (13.5%) but got the Timeout deal (last one here) so paid £42 + service. Well worth it at full price, with the Timeout voucher, it becomes a must-visit.
Everything was very good, but the highlights were the tempura (make sure you try the sauces!), the sushi rolls and the gyoza.
Remembered to take pictures of everything bar the beef main course this time!
A nice easy journey on the Hipster Line (AKA The Overground) took me to the Hackney branch of Tonkotsu to have the £22.50 Gizzi Erskine set menu of wings, ramen and beer.
These wings were just the right level of spiciness. I couldn’t have managed many more before crying!
This was a lovely broth with pork & kimchee. Delicious!
My visit to Blacklock City was really good – service was a touch hit & miss, but they made up for that with the food. No shots of the starters I’m afraid.
The All In is the one to have
From Left to right: Eggs, Cheese & Chicken
A great pile of meat, just enough for 3 people – delicious and beautifully cooked!
The chips were lovely & crispy and came nicely salted & vinegared
What you can’t see is that the bowl is about 6 inches deep! In my defence, I at least tried the rhubarb, which I still don’t like…
This visit to Pittcue was to take advantage of the 25% off deal we had. They still do the best mashed potatoes, but the rest, a bit average. The sides were lovely, but the meat disappointed.
The lean bits were really nice, but a bit too much gristle for me
The meat was good, the potatoes were better!
The Veg side was really nice – well cooked and tasty
It may be telling that I don’t remember what I had for dessert….
